This Monday, May 1, is the biggest night in fashion—the evening when the Met Gala, the fashion industry’s Super Bowl, occurs. Year after year many fashion devotees stay glued to the livestream while some decide to witness the awe-inspiring glam in person and stand across the street from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to watch their favorite celebs arrive in style. This year’s theme celebrates the legacy of the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who designed collections for Chanel, his namesake line, Fendi and more.
We can expect to see major achival dresses, suits, and pieces that Lagerfeld designed in his 36-year career at the iconic French house that Coco built, as well as looks from other lines he designed for, including Chloé, where he did two stints, from 1963 to 1983 and from 1992 to 1997.
From music group 3LW to EBONY cover stars Jodie Turner-Smith and Teyana Taylor, let’s take a look back to check out the Met Gala fashion through the years from our fave celebs.
