This weekend, at the 60th International Biennial Boule in Houston, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. proudly inducted actress and entrepreneur Krystal Harris as one of their honorary members.

Harris has made a significant mark in the entertainment industry, specializing in character-driven dramas and fantasy narratives across both film and television. Her acting portfolio includes notable works such as the BET mini-series The New Edition Story and Tyler Perry’s The Oval. She has also graced the screens in productions like Straight Outta Compton, The Perfect Match, and Hope for Love. On television, her talents have shone in series like Shameless, Ray Donovan, 2 Broke Girls, Parks & Recreation, The Hustle, and CSI Miami.

Balancing her multifaceted career, Harris recently moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she is not only a single mom to her 8-year-old daughter but also a student pursuing a business degree. In November 2023, she opened an acting school aimed at helping young people and their families navigate the demanding entertainment industry. The school offers formal training in acting, but more importantly, it imparts essential life skills needed to thrive in such a competitive environment. “I’m here to serve. It builds my soul, and this shows up in my work with the youth and their families,” Harris shared.

In addition to Krystal Harris, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. also inducted twelve other remarkable women as honorary members: Ta’Rhonda Jones, Bianca Knight, Sharon Moody, LaTavia Roberson, Kim Roxie, April Showers, Kera Wright, Bettina Benson, Rebekah Borucki, Jackie Chambers de Freitas, Kelley Gay, and Dwan Martin.
