Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII Halftime show musical director is opening up about what went into her epic 13 min set.

HipHollywood caught up with Adam Blackstone at the 54th NAACP Image Awards where he shared his excitement, and relief that it’s finally over.

“I feel relieved, I ain’t going to even front,” the Philly-bred musician said. “Like, you know, that was a two, three month process where we wanted to make sure we just showed full icon on display at all times. I think she did that.”

Blackstone, who took home the Image Award for Outstanding Jazz Album, said the expectant mother was super excited once it was all over as well.

“She was so excited afterwards. And as musical director, it just feels great to have been apart of that.”

When asked if there was a plan to have special guests join the pop diva on stage, Blackstone joked Rih’s baby bump was the only special guest.

“We had a great surprise guest with her,” he said as he made a baby bump gesture.

“I think that was one of the most exemplary things that she could do as a new mother as well, to put on her icon pop stardom and still be a mother at the same time. That means a lot to our culture, you know what I mean? And just being a black woman, to be able to have the commitment that she had to the process, but also have a commitment to her family, that’s a big deal. And I think that is shown, for sure.”

As previously reported, the beauty and fashion mogul rocked a red Loewe jumpsuit and Alaia coat, showing off her burgeoning bump. At one point she even rubbed her belly as she sang and danced to her hits including “We Found Love,” “Where Have You Been,” “Diamonds” and “Work.”

Following the show reps confirmed the 35-year-old was pregnant with her second child. Rihanna, along with rapper A$AP Rocky, are the proud parents of a 9-month-old boy.
