The AfroTech Conference is finally in Houston! As one of the largest gatherings for Black professionals in the technology industry, AfroTech is a three-day event you don’t want to miss. Taking place from Nov. 13 to 16 at the George R. Brown Convention Center, this conference promises an electrifying experience filled with networking opportunities, innovative programming, and a vibrant celebration of Black excellence in tech.
Founded by Blavity Inc., AfroTech is the largest Black tech conference of the year, bringing together more than 20,000 Black innovators worldwide. The gathering is particularly well-liked by young Black women and professionals who want to meet, interact, and learn from leading recruiters and industry figures. For the Black tech community, it’s a cultural event that provides a singular chance to become fully immersed in the newest developments and trends, according to the AfroTech website.
However, with such a significant experience often comes a hefty price tag. For those who may not be able to attend the official conference events or are simply looking for budget-friendly alternatives, plenty of free and low-cost networking events are happening throughout the week. These events provide an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow professionals, even if you’re not attending the main conference. Here’s a roundup of some of the most exciting free or affordable events during AfroTech week in Houston.
