An Amazon driver in Georgia has lost his job following an accusation from a customer that he attempted to steal their family dog. Terrika Currence from Henry County, suburban Atlanta, reported that her daughter saw the driver luring their red nose pitbull into his delivery truck.
The incident was captured on video, prompting Currence to speak out, stating, “as I opened the door to put the package in the house, and the dog food, my daughter screams and says, ‘The Amazon guy stole our puppy!’”.
She quickly confronted the driver and filmed her dog inside the vehicle. In the video, she can be heard angrily exclaiming, “F—g Amazon done took my f—g dog out my f—g yard!” She then opened the truck’s rear door and was surprised to find her pet inside, according to the New York Post.
“As soon as I opened the truck, he had the puppy inside a bin. I had to grab the puppy and get him off the truck,” Currence added.
“He was ready to pull off with our dog,” she said, adding that “he didn’t give any explanation” about what he did.
Currence recounted how the Amazon driver commented on her dog’s appearance, expressing a desire for a puppy. She said the incident had instilled some fear in her daughter, who now worries any time she sees delivery drivers thinking they might take her puppy.
An Amazon representative apologized to the customer and said the company was glad that their dog was returned unharmed.
“The driver involved is no longer delivering for Amazon and we’ve reached out to law enforcement to assist as they investigate,” the spokesperson said.
Currence said “It gives me relief that he’s fired but if he’s doing things like that, I’m sure, you know it’s in his character. He’ll do it again.”
Henry County police are investigating the incident.
