No one questions an athlete taking time to heal from a ACL tear or broken wrist. Those injuries happen all the time and come with a clear recovery time. What about when a student or professional athlete needs to take time away from the game to focus on mental health?

Anxiety, self-doubt and depression can be just as serious as a broken ankle or any other serious injury. Very often, these issues are ignored because acknowledging them isn’t considered “being tough.” Therefore, there is the physical toll and beating that athletes’ bodies sustain that can lead to mental health issues later in their lives.
