Nationwide — LeDuan Pratt, the principal of Hopewell High School in Huntersville, North Carolina, has been placed on suspension just before the commencement of the 2024-2025 academic year. The decision, made by school officials, was effective as of August 19, and while it has been confirmed that Pratt remains on the payroll during this suspension, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) district has refrained from divulging any further details regarding the reasons behind this action.

According to CBS News 17, on a communication addressed to the families of Hopewell High School students, the administration acknowledged Pratt’s absence. The message assured parents and students that the school would be supported by Mr. Mike Turner, a retired high school principal, who has been brought in to ensure a smooth start to the school year. LeDuan Pratt had previously been introduced as the principal of Garinger High School within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system in 2022.
