Juneteenth weekend is here and it’s the best time to commemorate Black resilience, excellence and accomplishments. There is no better way to honor this holiday integral to African American heritage than at a hub of Black history. Starting June 15, 2023, CultureVations—a mission-driven organization that seeks to uplift and further solidify the success and equity of communities and founders of color—is hosting the Black Wall Street Homecoming in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“We are excited to host this momentous celebration, paying tribute to the pioneers of Black excellence while providing a platform for the next wave of innovators and entrepreneurs,” said Tyreek Moore, M. Ed. Founder and CEO of CultureVations. “Through this event, we aim to showcase Tulsa’s rich history, foster investment opportunities, and create a supportive environment where dreams are nurtured and achievements celebrated.”

Starting yesterday, there will be a myriad of events that are aimed to pay homage to the history of Tulsa’s Greenwood District—the site of the tragic 1921 Tulsa Massacre—and celebrate African American freedom by way of Juneteenth. The “homecoming” will start with a pitch competition featuring founders local to the area, a gala and silent auction the following day, a summit rooted in creative problem solving the concerns respective to Black Wall Street and a closing reception at the Greenwood Rising Black Wall St. History Center.

“Never in U.S. history have we seen a display of underrepresented founders prosper such as we did before the 1921 Race Massacre in the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma also known as Black Wall Street. [CultureVations] are committed to being a part of honoring that legacy by being a part of creating Black Wall Streets all over the country,” shared Moore.
