(BPRW) ArtLit 2024 – A Celebration of Caribbean Art, Culture and Stories

– Free, all-ages Broward County Library festival on Saturday, February 10 –

(Black PR Wire) BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Library (BCL) signature event ArtLit 2024 brings the creativity of the Caribbean to impress, entertain and enlighten from 10:30AM to 3PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024, to Lauderhill Central Park Library, 3810 NW 11th Place, Lauderhill, 33311,954-357-7833.

This year marks the seventh anniversary of Artlit, a free, popular community celebration of art and literature for all ages. Artit 2024 explores the Caribbean cultures of Jamaica, Haiti, and Trinidad-Tobago with a playful explosion of live music, art, spoken word and interactive experiences with local businesses, government agencies, crafters and more. There will be food trucks, giveaways and opportunities to meet local artists and authors.

“ArtLit 2024 is bursting with culture, verve and flair,” says Broward County Library Director Allison Grubbs. “We are very proud of this dynamic community event. It’s not to be missed!”

Free festival activities include a board games tent (Ludo, Do Say Dat and Mancala), face painting, henna art, Caribbean-themed virtual reality, dance instruction and photo- op fun with Super Reader and Princess Reads a Lot.

Live entertainment is also free and ranges from a performance by the Louise Bennett-Coverley Heritage Council, readings from Kei Miller’s Things I Have Withheld, Haitian-themed storytelling, Disney songs performed live by Broward Center for the Performing Arts students and the live music of steelpan drums.

On the menu will be free or discounted food of American, Haitian, Trinidadian-Tobagonian and Jamaican cuisine. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy some special ‘birthday cake’ celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the formation of Broward County Libraries.

Help celebrate the art, culture and stories that connect us by sharing your original artwork. Now through January 31, 2024, visit any Broward County Library and use the provided chalk art supplies to create your original chalk art drawing. Submit a photo of your creation to our ArtLit 2024 artwork webpage, All ages are encouraged to participate and select drawings may be on display at ArtLit 2024.
