(BPRW) Black History Month: Celebrating Black Women in STEM

Meet Terysa Ridgeway, Author of Think Like A Computer and Creator of Alilo The Explorer

(Black PR Wire) Miami, FL – Black women have made significant contributions to STEM fields throughout history. Two examples of these achievements include Dr. Mae Jemison, the first Black woman to fly to space, and Mary Jackson, the first Black woman engineer at NASA. As we celebrate Black women in Technology, Terysa Ridgeway, author of Think Like A Computer and creator of Alilo The Explorer, joined the Thrivin’ in Color podcast for a fascinating conversation about how she empowers children through technology.

In this episode, Terysa delves into a stimulating discussion on the “Terysa Solves It” book series and the sources of inspiration that shaped her career as an author. She also provides behind-the-scenes information on the development of the clever STEM toy robot that helps children learn to code in an entertaining and educational way. “Terysa’s innovative approach to introducing children to technology is one of a kind,” said Camry. “Listeners, especially those with children, are going to enjoy this episode.”

Terysa Ridgeway, a technical program manager at Google, holds Computer Science and Mathematics degrees from Southern University and A&M College. Before that, Terysa was a rocket scientist developing code for Exoatmospheric Spacecraft. Additionally, Terysa is actively involved in educational programs with a focus on STEM that empowers youth in her local community. She believes that when it comes to learning, with the right support, the sky is the limit!
