(BPRW) Calling All Faith, Civic and Justice Leaders!

–Certificate Program in Public Theology now accepting applications. Act today! Registration closes soon. —

(Black PR Wire) Atlanta, GA — Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary is currently accepting applications for Drum Major for Justice, a certificate program in public theology. The program starts on June 16, 2023.

Drum Major for Justice (DMFJ) is a dynamic, cohort-based, five-month course of study deeply rooted in the African American religious experience. The goal of the program is to help participants activate practices and networks for social change and racial justice in their churches and communities. The program is fully online.

 Key components include:

cultivating safe space online to look critically and constructively at the intersection of faith and justice.
exploring the histories of both structural racism and liberative organizing.
convening weekly for 90 minutes online under the guidance of a skilled facilitator.

Applicants may visit the seminary’s website, www.jcsts.org/dmfj, for more information, testimonials, and to register. The program is open to all persons regardless of race, educational background, ethnicity, orientation, or faith tradition. Financial assistance is available. Space is filling up! Don’t delay. Registration remains open until June 1st!

One recent DMFJ graduate says, “I always thought of myself as a pretty aware and open-minded person, but DMFJ helped me see that I am actually naive. As a result of this program, I have a deeper understanding of my faith and I am emboldened (using the words of the prophet Micah) to ‘do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God.’ Publicly.”

Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary offers two cohorts annually: the Martin Luther King Jr. Cohort every January and the Juneteenth Cohort every June.
