(BPRW) GROUPS RELAUNCH MICHIGANDROPBOX.COM TO MAKE VOTING EASY AND ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL VOTERS
(Black PR Wire) DETROIT — Voters Not Politicians Education Fund, All Voting Is Local, Michigan League of Conservation Voters, and Detroit Action, relaunched www.MichiganDropbox.com to provide a free, easy-to-use online tool for Michigan voters to locate a secure drop box location or their local clerk’s office to cast their absentee ballots in the general election.
The drop box locator tool was created to support those choosing to vote with an absentee ballot, especially first-time absentee voters, young voters, and historically disenfranchised voters in Detroit and other cities. The Voters Not Politicians Volunteer Advisory Council led the effort to ensure this tool would be available to voters across the state.
So far, clerks have installed over 1,100 drop boxes across the state. Their locations will be updated regularly on MichiganDropBox.com leading up to the election. Voters Not Politicians Education Fund is also running advertisements to inform voters about locating drop boxes in their area.
“This free, accurate and easy-to-use tool is essential for voters to have as they prepare to make their voices heard in this election. Voters will find all the information they need to return their absentee ballot securely and on time on MichiganDropBox.com. Twenty-five volunteers made several thousand phone calls to local clerks to ensure that the website is accurate and ready for voters.” – Nancy Wang, Executive Director of Voters Not Politicians Education Fund
“Voting should be easy, safe, convenient, and accessible for all voters,” said Aghogho Edevbie, All Voting Is Local Michigan Director. “MichiganDropbox.com ensures that voters can find the nearest location to return their ballot and cast their vote. We’re grateful that we were able to re-launch this tool that was successful in 2020, and we’re hopeful this will continue to be a resource for voters in future elections.”
“As we get closer to election day, it is important that voters who still have not returned their ballots do not mail them in and instead drop their ballot off at their clerk’s office or use a secure dropbox to make sure their ballot is received before 8 p.m. on November 8,” said Brooke Harris, voting rights manager for the Michigan League of Conservation Voters. “Secure drop boxes are a safe and reliable way to return absentee ballots through 8 p.m. Nov. 8, and voters should check Michigandropbox.org to find a dropbox near them.”
“Voter suppression in Michigan is at an all time high. Now, more than ever, it is imperative that we make the voting process as easy and safe as possible to encourage folks to participate in this election,” said Branden Snyder, Executive Director of Detroit Action. “Having a tool readily available that locates secure drop boxes in our communities is pertinent for everyone who wants to defend our democracy. There’s no doubt that Michigandropbox.com will help more people get out the vote and increase electoral participation this year.”
