(BPRW) KBLA TALK 1580 ENTERS ITS THIRD YEAR
STATION CELEBRATED ITS TWO-YEAR ANNIVERSARY ON JUNETEENTH
(Black PR Wire) LOS ANGELES: -Two years ago, on June 19, 2021, Juneteenth, KBLA Talk 1580 launched with the promise to give disenfranchised citizens a voice in current political, social and cultural issues with empowering, sustainable and restorative language. Now, as the station enters its third year, it has achieved some noteworthy accomplishments that include:
KBLA Talk 1580 consistently emerges as the station of choice for Black/African American residents. An EVITARUS public opinion research study, the 2023 African American Media Issues Survey, finds that for the second consecutive year, KBLA Talk 1580 remains the most “trusted, credible and reliable” media source in Southern California for African Americans and beyond. Furthermore, 80% of those surveyed agree that outlets like KBLA provide honest and authentic content about the issues most important to the Black community directly from Black journalists who understand what issues need to be addressed.
On May 30, 2023, SmileyAudioMedia, Inc. announced SAM Digital. With its own brand of white label products, SAM Digital will help businesses and service providers reach an even wider audience, grow brand awareness, and increase sales by targeting specific audiences with direct messaging and by measuring the performance of their outreach campaigns.
On June 5, 2023, SmileyAudioMedia, Inc. announced the SmileyAudioMedia Podcast Network. This exciting transformation showcases KBLA’s commitment to staying at the forefront of the Black media landscape and providing our listeners with diverse and engaging content on a national scale. The SAM Podcast Network represents a significant upgrade for KBLA Talk 1580, harnessing the power of podcasting to deliver thought-provoking discussions, captivating storytelling and expert insight into various topics. This new venture marks a strategic shift as we embrace the dynamic and rapidly growing podcasting industry. We will also shift to an influencer marketing model with our hosts reading the advertisements. By expanding beyond traditional radio broadcasting, we will cater to changing audience preferences and deliver content that is accessible anytime, anywhere.
“We launched KBLA Talk 1580 on Juneteenth, two years ago, during the height of the COVID-19 health crisis. We’re extremely proud that in two short years, KBLA Talk 1580 has become a trusted community resource in Los Angeles and beyond,” stated founder and chief visionary officer, Tavis Smiley. “Our mission to enlighten, empower and encourage, resonates with our growing audience.”
KBLA Talk 1580 is unapologetically progressive, but the station and its on-air talent prefer good ideas over ideology. The station’s guests and listeners share the wisdom of a lived experience that serves to enlighten others. Because KBLA’s audience is so diverse, each day is like a live town hall meeting over the airwaves.
“The possibilities are limitless for KBLA Talk 1580 in year three and beyond,” concluded Smiley, who was just honored with the coveted “Freedom of Speech” Award at TALKERS 2023.
Until you talk to Tavis…the story is not complete. We’ve got a lot to talk about!
