(BPRW) TU Chair Norma Clayton Named to Two Fortune 500 Boards

(Black PR Wire) Tuskegee University Board Chair Norma Clayton shows her ongoing dedication to Tuskegee and its mission, and has recently been appointed to share her insight and experience as a new board member of two corporations – The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Nucor Corporation.

“We are very pleased to welcome Norma Clayton to Goodyear’s Board of Directors,” said Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President Richard J. Kramer as part of its announcement Nov. 28. “Norma’s global leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, technology, innovation and human resources will be invaluable to Goodyear and its shareholders as we build our business and fulfill our role of enabling mobility in a fast-evolving industry.”

She was named to the Nucor Corporation board last summer.

“Norma brings extensive experience in the areas of business management, manufacturing operations, technology and innovation leadership, human resources and international business,” said Leon J. Topalian, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nucor.  “We are fortunate to have her join the Nucor team.”

Trustee Clayton has served as a Tuskegee University Board of Trustees member since 2009 and Board Chair since 2019.  She retired from Boeing in 2016 after 20 years of service.  Throughout her career, she held leadership roles across engineering; plant operations and optimization; manufacturing excellence; quality and product safety; sourcing, supply chain and procurement; and human resources. Prior to joining Boeing, she spent several years leading plant operations and sourcing at Lockheed Martin, and prior to that, she held management roles in manufacturing and engineering at General Electric, after starting her career at General Motors.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Administration from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Master of Arts degrees in both Business Management and Human Resources Development from Webster University.

“The work Chair Clayton does to advance the university and set direction for global organizations like these is to be commended,” said Tuskegee President Charlotte P. Morris. “The demands for her time and the influence she garners is a testament to the depth of experience and leadership she brings to the organization.”
