Chris Pratt Doesn’t Love Lasagna: 5 Fun Facts About The ‘Garfield’ Star

Sorry folks, Chris Pratt isn’t a fan of lasagna like his fury friend Garfield.

The actor, who voices the iconic cartoon character in  The Garfield Movie, chatted with HipHollywood ahead of its release and shared some other hilarious fun facts we never knew.

Check out the synopsis and our chat with Pratt below:

Garfield (voiced by Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.

He Doesn’t Love Lasagna

While Garfield loves the cheesy Italian dish (and will do almost anything for it) Pratt revealed he’s not quite a fan.

CP: I’m going to be honest with you, it’s not in my top five. I like it. I don’t hate it, but it’s not my favorite the way Garfield loves it.

He Loves BBQ … And Breakfast Meats

So what food could Pratt eat everyday if he had a choice?

CP: I like barbecue and breakfast meats and bacon and eggs. I like to get messy. I need all the wet naps. I need a whole paper roll actually. Wet naps ain’t enough. I need the full brawny paper towel roll.

He Wasn’t Worried About Following Bill Murray As Garfield

Pratt was actually excited to make Garfield his own, some 20 years after Bill Murray first voiced the famous orange cat on the big screen in 2004’s Garfield: The Movie.

CP: Our director, Mark Dindal, he said he’d been working on the film for a couple of years before he talked to me. They’re getting all the animation right, getting the story tight, the script right and everything. He said, I just keep picturing him sounding exactly like you. He said, there’s a natural, lazy, sarcastic tone to your voice. I was like, ‘Oh, Thank you.’ In a way, making it my own was really just about him making it his own, and him making it his own was me just doing me, me breathing my own voice, my own spirit into this guy and letting that be Garfield.

He’s Never Met Samuel L. Jackson

Despite sharing voice time with Jackson (who plays his dad in the animated feature) Pratt revealed they didn’t work together on the film and he’s actually never officially met him.

CP: Can I be honest with you? I don’t think I’ve ever met Sam. I met him one time, but he wouldn’t remember. We just crossed paths at a thing. But not filming. We didn’t work together because it wasn’t like that. It’s not like when we’re doing voiceover work, it’s all isolated. You’re in a sound booth somewhere close to your home, laying down the tracks, and then they’re building the movie without you. It’s great in a way because then you can become a real member of the audience at the premiere.

He Loves (The Mentality Of ) Cats

While most fans now Pratt is a cat lover, they may not know why he’s so fond of the furry creature.

CP: They’re aloof, a little prima donna. I love it. That’s the nature of a cat. They’re a little snarky and they think that you are living in their house. That’s the difference between a cat and a dog. A dog will say my master feeds me. He must be God. And the cat says, my master feeds me. I Must be God.

The Garfield Movie is in theaters May 24.
