*Ask Coco Gauff what she plans to do with the $3 million she earned from winning the US Open and the answer will not include paying bills.

For the 19-year-old tennis champ, it’s easy to not worry about paying bills when you don’t have any bills to pay.

“Somebody said, ‘Pay off debts.’ I’m nineteen I don’t have any debt. I’m not in debt,” Gauff said in response to a comment made during a recent Instagram Live. “I live with my parents… still! So, I’m not in debt. I didn’t go to college, so I don’t have any student bills to pay. [laughs]I’m not in debt, I’m too young! My parents have never put me in that position to be in debt. So, yeah, I don’t have nothing to pay right now.”

And that, good people, is why it feels good to be Miss Coco.

Gauff’s remarks at the Instagram Live come after making history at the US Open final, defeating her 25-year-old opponent, Aryna Sabalendra, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 on September 9, 2023. The Atlanta-born athlete’s victory elevated her to rarified air as she became the first teen to take home the Grand Slam title since a young Serena Williams did the deed in the late 90s. Currently, Gauff is reportedly taking time off to vacation outside the country.
