Leslie Uggams is embracing her legend status. People reports  about the 81-year-old actress having a bit of a career renaissance at this point in her life.

“[It’s] because I’m fabulous,” the Emmy and Tony winner quips, adding, “It’s great material that I’ve been able to do, and we have Fallout, which is another one that I’m doing.”

Uggams also says she “couldn’t wait to get back” to the Deadpool universe alongside costar Ryan Reynolds and franchise newcomer Hugh Jackman.

“I missed Ryan, and then we have Hugh Jackman in it as well, and that wonderful dog. I’m in love with the dog. So it was great. It was like we never left,” she raves.

Asked to choose between Deadpool and Wolverine, Uggams says the former “comes first” as he’s “my buddy,” but the friendship between Reynolds, 47, and Jackman, 55, on set was “spectacular” to see.

“You could feel the vibe of brotherhood when they were together on the set. It was great,” she says.

Uggams has played Blind Al, the roommate of Reynolds’ Wade Wilson/Deadpool, since the wisecracking superhero’s first standalone movie in 2016. The New York City native reprised her role in Deadpool 2 (2018), and is back once again in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Ahead of the new movie’s release, Uggams also recently chatted with PEOPLE about starring in a hilarious Old Spice commercial as her character.

Of the brand’s Total Body Deodorant ad, the actress joked it’s “perfect, because God knows [Deadpool] needs every kind of freshness,” and added with a laugh, “You can imagine what poor Blind Al was going through before she found this product for him that goes from his pits to his toes.”

For Deadpool & Wolverine’s premiere this week, Uggams also said she planned to “get dressed to the nines,” and no doubt smell great, as she took in the movie.

“I’m looking forward to it because I have no idea what I’m going to see,” she told PEOPLE. “So I’ll be sitting there in the audience just as anticipating and surprised as everybody else.”

Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters Friday, July 26.
