*David Tennant returns as The Doctor for three 60th Anniversary specials that will stream this month on Disney+ for U.S. viewers.
The “Doctor Who” marathon kicks off on November 4th and the specials are set to air on November 11th, 18th, and 25th.
We reported previously that Tennant, a fan favorite, is returning as the Fourteenth Doctor before Ncuti Gatwa takes over as the Fifteenth Doctor this fall. Per EW, Tennant described his return to the long-running British science fiction series as “joyous.”
“[It was] an unexpected treat to get to revisit something that had been such a lovely wonderful experience fifteen years ago,” Tennant told EW. “There’s some precedent for ex-Doctors showing up for, like, guest appearances, but to get to have another proper runaround in an albeit slightly different long coat was a joy I never really imagined. I just hope I look as fast as I did in the early 2000s.”
Check out the new trailer for the upcoming specials, which features Neil Patrick-Harris playing “The Toymaker,” an enemy last seen in 1966.
The three 60th Anniversary specials are titled “The Star Beast,” “Wild Blue Yonder,” and “The Giggle.”
According to BBC.com, showrunner Russell T Davies said the new season is “full of Doctor Who surprises, for fans and new viewers alike. Stay alert!”
“Doctor Who” will premiere exclusively on the BBC for the UK and Ireland and Disney+ will stream the new seasons in the U.S.
