Republican presidential candidate, former U.S. President Donald Trump dances at the edge of the stage following his speech at the New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women’s Lilac Luncheon on June 27, 2023 in Concord, New Hampshire.

*Recently, writer/activist Earl Ofari Hutchinson was interviewed by writer Manny Otiko for an article for Medium about America Under Trump 2.0. Read on ’cause we think you’ll find this very interesting.

Manny Otiko: Trump is currently facing multiple indictments and is a convicted rapist. Is he going to be the Republican nominee?
Earl Ofari Hutchinson: Trump’s massive lead over all GOP-declared presidential candidates has not diminished appreciably before, during, and after his indictments. Given his impassioned and huge base, that will not change.

MO: Of all the charges, which do you think is the most serious and likely to convict him?
EOH: The closest charge to a smoking gun case against Trump is the documents pilfer fed indictment. Trump’s own words may be the best evidence against him. The JD will also bring its best top gun prosecutors against him.

MO: Do you think Trump will ever see time behind bars for his multiple crimes?
EOH: No, most white-collar convicted defendants invariably get a hand-slap combination of a fine and probation. They are always handled gingerly when it comes to hard jail time. It will be the same with Trump–if convicted.

MO: Of all Trump’s many problems, why does he still have fervent support among the GOP? A recent New York Times poll showed that 54% of Republicans still back him.
EOH: There’s no mystery why. He is still the top dog within the GOP because … 1. deep political polarization 2. racial fault lines Trump masterly exploits 3. He symbolizes a white, conservative, defense of the old America, the last bastion bulwark against CRT, minorities, LGBT, abortion, and all other perceived “liberal” threats to millions.

MO: What do you think of Biden’s challengers on the left, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Dr. Cornel West (Green Party?) Will they hurt his campaign?
EOH: No, third parties and their candidates with few exceptions are inconsequential. These individuals will fade as factors as it gets closer to election crunch time.

MO: What do you see happening to the country, if the unthinkable happens, and Trump wins again?
EOH: Trump has already said it. He will move America further to the right, consolidate power tightly in the Oval Office i.e. Him, and embolden the most extreme corporate, rightist elements in America. In short, this will be a near-total right maybe even a quasi-fascist takeover of the federal government. The GOP already has the majority of state and local governments, a big chunk of the fed judiciary, the House, the SCOTUS locked down, and a hairs breath away from taking back the Senate. Trump in the OO will finish things off.

As someone once quipped about all the gains of the past six decades–civil rights, labor, the environment, LGBT, and so on “You didn’t think they wouldn’t take it back” Well!!!!!!
