IRS Admits to Disproportionately Auditing Black People

A report conducted by Stanford University showed that the IRS has audited Black taxpayers at a disproportionate rate. T study’s findings revealed that Black taxpayers are three to five times more likely to be audited than those of other races. The governmental agency admitted to study’s findings. IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel shared with legislatures “While there is a need for further research, our initial findings support the conclusion that Black taxpayers may be audited at higher rates than would be expected given their share of the population.” Werfel continued, “We are dedicating significant resources to quickly evaluating the extent to which IRS’s exam priorities and automated processes, and the data available to the IRS for use in exam selection, contribute to this disparity.”

Family of Shanquella Robinson States That the Case Remains Open

Sue-Ann Robinson, attorney for the family of Shanquella Robinson, expressed that the case in her death is still in progress. After the FBI shared that her murderers could not be charged, the family is still looking into more details as they wait for case files to be translated to English.

“…You’ve made a decision in the case, you’ve announced the decision publicly to the family and to the public, but you’re saying the case is still not closed and admitting that some of the documents from the investigative file that arguably would affect your decision to charge have not been fully translated. So the family is deeply disappointed. They’re concerned obviously about the red flags and the lack of transparency in the investigation, but they’re not deterred. There’s still a path to justice and the family recognizes that,” said the attorney.

After receiving your text on Thursday asking if I could make it to L.A. for your Hollywood star, it took everything in me to come up with an excuse of why I couldn’t make it today. The truth is, I wouldn’t miss it for the worlds,” she said. “Growing up, you’d tell me to face my fears, that I can be two things in this world: scared or prepared. That there is no such thing as failure as long as I never give up on my dream. All I know is, if practice what you preach was a person, it would be you.”
