After a few months away from the spotlight, Megan Thee Stallion will headline the NCAA March Madness Festival. Taking place in Houston, the festival will be broken into the AT&T Block Party and a three-day music festival at the Discovery Green. fans will be able to take part in the festivities during the Men’s Final Four weekend. Lil Nas X is also set to perform during the weekend as well.
Black Couple Settles Lawsuit Over Racist House Valuation
After Paul Austin and Tenisha Tate-Austin brought attention to the racist lowballing of their house, the couple is settling a lawsuit with their appraiser Janette Miller and her company Miller and Perotti Real Estate Appraisals. The couple sued for discrimination last year and will now receive an undisclosed amount from the company. Miller must also attend a mandatory housing discrimination prevention training. Additionally, she is required to watch the correlated ABC documentary Our America: Lowballed .
Family Receives $8 Million After Wrongfully Detained
Aasylei Loggervale and her family were awarded $8 million after being wrongfully detained in California in 2019. After stopping at a Starbucks in Castro Valley, California, they were approached by two deputies from Alameda County—Steven Holland and Monica Pope— who forcefully searched their car and asked for identification. The family suffered from abrasions from the incident. Loggervale was bringing her daughters to college.
CBS News reported that Alameda County and Holland are responsible for paying “$2.75 million to the mother and $2 million to each daughter, while Pope and the county must pay $750,000 to each daughter.”
