Mark Jennings, a McCurtain County Commissioner in Oklahoma, has resigned after being caught on tape saying he wanted to lynch Black people and kill reporters. The recorded conversation included Jennings, Sheriff Kevin Clardy, Captain Alicia Manning and Jail Administrator Larry Hendrix.
“I know where two deep holes are dug if you ever need them,” Jennings says on the recording. “I’ve got an excavator,” the sheriff replied. In response to the public outcry, McCurtain County Commissioner Mark Jennings penned a handwritten letter that was accepted by Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt.
The other officials have not yet turned in their resignations.
