Tory Lanez Denied New Trial in the 2020 Case Over Shooting Meghan Thee Stallion

After being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, Canadian artist Tory Lanez has been denied a secondary trial. Lanez appealed his original convictions which found him guilty on the charges of assault with a handgun, carrying a concealed gun in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm in a negligent manner. Judge David V. Herriford, who presided over the trial, shared with Lanez’s team “In the end, the jury believed the prosecution’s case beyond a reasonable doubt,” as reported by journalist Meghann Cuniff. His new sentencing date is scheduled for June 13, 2023, and he faces 20 years in prison.

Damar Hamlin Transfers GoFundMe Funds to a Charity

After the country rallied together in support of NFL player Damar Hamlin, who collapsed on the field while playing, he is now paying his good fortune forward. A GoFundMe fundraiser was created in his honor to help him during his recovery from the heart attack, Hamlin shared that he is donating the money to his charity the Chasing M’s Foundation. In a statement, Hamlin shared, “We have been very deliberate and intentional about taking our time to set my charity up properly. I’m excited to begin sharing news about programs we are creating to impact a generation of youth and give back to others.” $10 million will be transferred from the GoFundMe into the charity, which the fundraising platform is holding in the meantime.

Jonathan Majors Attends Court Hearing

Jonathan Majors attended a virtual court hearing regarding his ongoing domestic violence case. In an update complaint against him shared by CNN, it stated that the woman “sustained injuries to her arm and hand and that she was allegedly pushed into the side of a vehicle by Majors.” Majors’ attorney Priya Chaudhry stated that she believes this is “a witch hunt against Jonathan Majors, driven by baseless claims. To be clear, there are no new charges against Mr. Majors.”
