*First and foremost, the conspiracy theory that Taylor Swift wrote “Argylle” is untrue. “Argylle,” directed and produced by Matthew Vaughn, is from a Jason Fuchs’ screenplay.

But all the hoopla surrounding the rumor only helps the movie—and I love it. Right now, Taylor and the NFL’s Travis Kelce rule the media. So inspiring to see Taylor driving MAGA maniacs more insane.

“Argylle,” now in theaters, is the convoluted comedy about the reclusive writer Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas). She is responsible for a series of best-selling espionage novels. And her idea of a hot “date” night is being home with her cat, Alfie—at her computer.

The plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission–begins to unravel when it starts to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization. Consequently, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.

Besides the Taylor Swift factor, there is always the opinionated populace that weigh in on films even before they are released. Many of them feel that “Argylle” is not worth its weight in cat litter. Yet, there was no outcry when the horrific film “Jules” was released. “Jules” used dead cats for fuel.

“Argylle” is what it is expected to be, foolish entertainment with excessive gunplay. Not to mention, the non-becoming haircut of Henry Cavill. If you want a smart film, go see “American Fiction” and “Origin.”

Samuel L. Jackson, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Bryan Cranston, Sofia Boutella, with Ariana DeBose and Catherine O’Hara are also  in “Argylle.”
