Taurian Collins is making waves with his intelligence. The first-grader has already been accepted into the elite Mensa Society, which acknowledges those who score in the 98th percentile on standardized tests.
Taurian overcame hearing difficulties as a toddler and started reading at the age of two. His mother, Jessica Collins, told Action News5, “He wasn’t really talking. I don’t think he was saying 10 words.”
Approximately four years ago, she took Taurian to the pediatrician, whereupon his adenoids were removed and tubes were inserted into his ears.
Before the surgery, Taurian’s hearing was as if he were underwater. To him, everything sounded garbled, including his speech.
But now, Taurian’s parents said that he has not stopped talking and is still reading following the treatment.
Collins recently posted a video of the six-year-old reading out in complete sentences from what she had written.
She shared, “He said he’s going to Harvard at 13. So, we’re going to do whatever we have to do to get him there.”
Meanwhile, Taurian stated that when he grows up, he wants to be an NFL player who also works as an astronaut.
