In related news, the Geffen Playhouse salutes the achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Geffen Playhouse also makes history this year with the West Coast premiere of First Deep Breath, written by Lee Edward Colston, II. It’s a riveting, real and dramatic portrayal of the layered complexities of a Black family in America.

Through Mr. Colston’s eyes we see and feel the humanity of African Americans without the constant juxtaposition of (in his words) “white folks.” The First Deep breath is a dream realized by Lee Edward Colston, II.

His time has come to tell African American stories his way, with full bravado and unapologetically Black. For more information on Lee Edward Colston’s amazing journey go to: GeffenPlayhouse.org
