*Raise your hand if you’re at all surprised to learn that Derek Chauvin, the ex-Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd, has been stabbed.

As we thought. We don’t see very many hands. In any event, Chauvin was knifed Friday (11-24-23) at a federal prison in Tucson, Arizona, reports The Associated Press via a source.

The attack happened Friday at around 12:30pm at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson. The AP)’s report says Chauvin’s injury is serious.

The source spoke on the condition of staying unidentified because they were not publicly allowed to share details of the incident.

Derek Chauvin kneeing George Floyd

Without naming the inmate, the Bureau of Prisons issued a statement to the AP saying that prison employees responded to an incident, contained the area, and performed “life-saving measures” on the inmate (assumed to be Chauvin), who was then transported to a hospital.

It was last year in August that Chauvin was transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson from a maximum-security state prison in Minnesota. He was given a 21-year federal sentence for violating Floyd’s civil rights. He also received a 22½-year state sentence for second-degree murder.

George Floyd died on May 25, 2020, after he was forcibly held on the ground by Chauvin for 9½ minutes who pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck. A bystander fortunately recorded video of the incident and of Floyd saying “I can’t breathe.” His death led to protests around the world.

It was earlier this week that Chauvin’s appeal on his murder conviction was rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Needless to say, with him being in a federal prison with hundreds, if not thousands of enemies, Chauvin was/is a dead man walking. That’s the brutal truth.
