A Georgia high school teacher was granted bond after being arrested in connection with the killing of a two-year-old child in 2020.
Thirty-two-year-old Kianna Davis was charged with malice murder, felony murder, first-degree cruelty to children, aggravated assault, second-degree murder, and second-degree cruelty to children after failing to seek medical attention for the child. Kiyon Benton is facing similar charges.
The two are accused of killing two-year-old Karter Ambrose, who was hit with a blunt object between Nov. 15 and Nov. 17 of 2020. The indictment states that Ambrose’s liver was lacerated.
For three years, officers have been collecting evidence, and the reason it took so long to indict Davis is because investigators only recently received an autopsy report back from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Davis is currently a teacher at Seckinger High School and has been a teacher for Gwinnett County Schools since 2021. Seckinger’s principal Jimmy Fisher sent a letter to parents about Davis’ arrest, saying that she won’t be allowed on campus while the investigation is underway.
On Nov. 9, Davis was released on a $15,000 conditional bond and has to live in Houston County with her grandfather. She also can’t come in contact with Benton or any witnesses outside of her mother and grandfather.
