Ice-T & More Set To Be Inducted Into National Hip Hop Museum Hall

Ice-T, Roxanne Shante, Run-DMC, and more trailblazers are set to be inducted into the National Hip Hop Museum Hall. This exciting announcement comes in celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

On Friday, Oct. 13, it was announced that some of the most influential hip-hop waymakers would be inducted into the National Hip-Hop Museum Hall. 

The latest inductees into the NHHM’s Hall of Fame include iconic artists such as Ice-T, Run-DMC, Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Roxanne Shante, and The B-Boys. Historian Jay Quan will honor these musicians with a custom trophy and a variety of unique keepsakes during a special ceremony at approximately 6 p.m.

The National Hip Hop Museum will also have additional attractions at the event, including a custom-made “Hip Hop 50” cake that will be made live, as well as a live hip hop painting by resident artist Kevin “Scene” Lewis. Jeremy Beaver, NHHM Founder and Collector, expressed his excitement about the induction ceremony, stating:

 “I can’t think of a better place to hold our largest induction ceremony to date. This is the culmination of five years of intense work to preserve and establish hip-hop as America’s most important cultural export.”

The National Hip Hop Museum will also be collaborating with the National Celebration of Hip Hop on October 28, 2023. The event will take place at National Park in Washington, D.C., with doors opening at 2 p.m. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy interactive experiences and retail offerings throughout the day.

In related hip-hop news, Ice-T recently joined Public Enemy to headline the National Celebration of Hip-Hop’s 50th Anniversary. 

The event, held at West Potomac Park on October 6 and 7, featured performances by Kurtis Blow, Kid ‘n Play, Roxanne Shante, The Sugarhill Gang, Soulsonic Force, and more. The concert also included tribute sets dedicated to DJ Hurricane and the Beastie Boys.

Additionally, the Grammy Museum has unveiled an interactive exhibit titled “Hip Hop America: The Exhibit” to honor the genre’s 50-year history. The exhibit showcases the impact and legacy of hip-hop, featuring artists such as The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, and LL Cool J.
