Meagan Good is reportedly dating Jonathan Majors amid his domestic abuse case, and fans think it’s either a (preposterous) PR stunt or a red flag for their fave.
Blink twice if you need help, sis! This news is shocking, considering less than two months ago, Majors was in a relationship with the woman who accused him of assaulting her. TMZ reports the curious coupledom between Kang The Conqueror and Good is “fairly new,” but a source claims they’ve gotten close over the “last several weeks.”
TMZ says witnesses spotted Good and Majors going to the movies at Alamo Drafthouse in L.A. last weekend. Interestingly, none of those witnesses or even paparazzi caught the famous new couple on camera, making fans even more suspicious.
Good’s reps haven’t confirmed that they’re dating.
Meagan Good And Jonathan Majors’ Dating Timeline Looks Funny In The Light
The internet is already dragging Majors’ team for seemingly planting a story to distract from his continued fall from grace that includes the loss of multiple movie roles and endorsement deals. Furthermore, people think it’s interesting that he was reportedly on a date instead of preparing for his court appearance on Tuesday.
The embattled star “found time for love” but couldn’t appear in court in person on May 9. Maybe that’s because he didn’t have much to say, not even to plead not guilty or guilty. Instead, his lawyer Priya Chaudhry did all the talking, but mainly in the press.
If Majors’ team can present his accusers’ actions following the assault as evidence in a real court and the court of public opinion, his socializing since then is fair game for scrutiny. Right after heated racial debates about Majors’ alleged victim being white, he pops out with a beloved Black boo?
Furthermore, while multiple alleged victims of Majors came forward to cooperate with the Manhattan D.A., the actor was supposedly back on the dating scene.
Whether this is true or not, it isn’t giving Majors image the boost his team expected.
Jonathan Majors’ Defense Appeared To Be Grasping At Victim-Blaming Straws Before Rumored Romance With Meagan Good
Earlier this week, Jezebel described his defense strategy as “throwing everything against the wall” and hoping something sticks. The site also noted that all their tactics align with DARVO (Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender).
The tactic “relies on widespread misunderstanding about the complexities of abuse, which often results in victims’ reactions to abuse being equated with abuse or inaccurately framed as “mutual abuse.’”
First, Chaudhry and her husband Andrew Bourke, who serves as Majors’ crisis publicist, released texts allegedly from Majors’ ex blaming herself for the incident. It backfired, and many thought it read like the script of a Lifetime movie including people working on his upcoming films. Next, his team released victim-blaming details and video of his accuser going out to a club rather than staying home after the alleged assault.
The court disagreed this week that the clubbing video was “irrefutable evidence that the woman is lying” and Chaudhry’s claims that the investigation is a racially biased “witch hunt” also flopped.
“We have provided the District Attorney with irrefutable evidence that the woman is lying, including video proof showing nothing happened, especially not where she claimed. … To be clear, there are no new charges against Mr. Majors.”
Chaudhry also failed to convince cops or the court that Majors was the real victim of an attack that night.
“None of the white officers present investigated the assault of Mr. Majors. Worse, the District Attorney has not indicated any intention to pursue charges against the woman, or even investigate the truth,” she said. Instead, the attorney claimed “the DA has adjusted the charges to match the woman’s new lies.”
That’s a strange assertion after the D.A.’s superseding complaint in his third-degree assault charge removed the allegation that Majors “put his hands on her neck.”
Majors currently faces three counts of third-degree assault, second-degree aggravated harassment, three counts of third-degree attempted assault, and second-degree harassment.
The court required Majors to attend his next court date on June 13 in person, or the judge will issue a warrant for his arrest.
Marvel Is Reportedly Preparing To Recast Jonathan Majors
Marvel reportedly pushed back the second season of Loki, the Disney+ series where Majors’ Kang the Conqueror character first appeared. The Cosmic Circus previously reported a September release date but now says it will likely premiere in October 2023.
According to The Cosmic Circus’ sources, Marvel and Disney are closely monitoring the case and preparing to replace him. Other Marvel insiders previously noted Snowfall’s Damson Idris might be a contender for the role.
Amidst all of this, apparently, fans are to believe that the notably private Majors is in a high-profile relationship with Black Hollywood’s sweetheart. Fans wanted to see Meagan Good find love again, but not like this.
Hopefully, Majors will focus more on his career and ongoing legal case than his love life.
