“Creed III” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” star Jonathan Majors, 33, was arrested Saturday morning in an alleged domestic dispute, a New York City police report reads. The actor maintains his innocence and issued a statement via his lawyer denying any wrongdoing.

“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows. We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently,” Priya Chaudhry, Majors’ defense attorney, tells EBONY.

Though he is no longer in police custody, according to the NYPD Saturday night, Majors was taken into custody—without incident—following claims from a 30-year-old woman that she was assaulted while the two were in a cab in New York City. A 911 call made from an apartment in the Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea alleged that the victim suffered “minor injuries to her head and neck,” police said.

“This evidence includes video footage from the vehicle where this episode took place, witness testimony from the driver and others who both saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman recanting these allegations,” Chaudhry adds.

Jonathan Majors was arrested on allegations of assault, strangulation, and harassment, according to the NYPD.

“All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever. Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday.  The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon,” Chaudhry continues.

As a result of the now pending investigation, the US Army has decided to pull two recruiting ads in which Majors stars. In a statement to CNN, the Army Enterprise Marketing Office said, “While Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, prudence dictates that we pull our ads until the investigation into these allegations is complete.” This case is still developing. We will update this story as additional details emerge.
