*JSU has tapped T.C. Taylor as the new head coach following Deion Sanders’ controversial exit from the HBCU.
Sanders hit up social media to congratulate Taylor for landing the coveted job. He shared a video showing the Tigers football players wild reaction when T.C. is named their new coach.
“Congratulations [Coach Taylor] on being the new [Jackson State football] head coach!” Sanders wrote on Instagram. “You deserve it! Love ya and appreciate u my brother. #CoachPrime.”
We reported previously that Sanders has been labeled a sell-out after the former NFLer quit his head coach position at Jackson State for Colorado.

The former NFLer was officially announced as Colorado’s next head coach last week, Yahoo reports.
“He’s moved on and I think that our job is to make sure that Jackson State and others continue at the same level,” Al Sharpton said in Sanders’ defense amid the criticism, TMZ reports.
Meanwhile, Taylor, said “it has been a dream of mine to be a coach here,” he told the Tigers. “But to be a head coach with some of the names that have been through here: W.C. Gorden, James Carson, and Coach Prime. Those are big shoes to fill, but I am excited.”
Taylor played for the Tigers during his time at Jackson State and was a standout wide receiver until he graduated in 2005. His senior season saw him break JSU’s single-season record with 84 catches, 1,234 yards, and 11 touchdowns.
In 2019, he joined JSU’s staff, coaching tight ends and wide receivers until last year, per TMZ. Sanders advocated for Taylor to take over the head coach gig.
Meanwhile, Sanders’ son Shedeur, current quarterback for Jackson State, will be leading the Colorado team next fall under his father’s leadership.
“It ain’t gonna be no more of a mess that these wonderful fans, the student body and some of your parents have put up with for probably two decades now. I’m coming, and when I get here, it’s gonna be changed,” Sanders told the Colorado football players upon his arrival to Boulder last Sunday.
“So I want y’all to get ready to go ahead and jump in the portal and do whatever you’re gonna get because if more of you jump in, the more room you make,” he continued. Watch the moment via the Twitter clip below.
