Despite Travis Scott petitioning to be removed from the Astroworld lawsuits a judge has ruled he must face the pending litigation.
Following Travis Scott’s deadly Astroworld Festival in 2021 lawsuits have been flying to everyone involved. Some lawsuits were rolled into one while some have even been settled quietly. Drake was reportedly deposed for several hours and later dropped from all the lawsuits.
According to XXL, despite his best efforts to be removed, a judge has ruled Travis must face the Astroworld lawsuits. Scott previously argued, “Safety isn’t the artist’s job.”
Judge Kristen Hawkins “declined to dismiss hundreds of lawsuits” against Travis stemming from the November 2021 festival that left 10 dead and dozens injured. Reportedly the first lawsuit goes to trial on May 6th filed by the family of Madison Dubinsky.
Her family alleges Travis showed “conscious disregard for safety” the night of the festival. A Texas grand jury has already declined to file charges against Scott.
It will mark the first of the Astroworld lawsuits to receive a trial. Despite Scott and Live Nation settling several lawsuits several are still unresolved. Despite touring in support of his last album Utopia, Travis still hasn’t returned to Houston with a proper performance.
However, Travis has continued his charity work in the Houston area with his Cactus Jack Foundation.
