*After the NBA named Karl Malone the judge of the All-Star dunk contest, the internet questioned why the league would tap a “pedophile” for the position.

Malone was age 20 when he impregnated a 13-year-old girl, according to Audacy. That child, Demetress Bell, “ended up as an offensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles,” TMZ writes, Malone didn’t meet his son until Bell was 17.

Malone evaded statutory rape charges or any legal penalties at all for impregnating a minor. He has also been labeled a deadbeat dad who refused to pay child support to twins he had when he was 17, The Daily Beast reported.

Now the NBA is facing backlash for inviting Malone to judge the dunk contest during All-Star weekend. KSL Sports reports that Malone will join Dominque Wilkins, Lisa Leslie, Jamal Crawford, and Harold Minor.

“I can *not* believe the NBA is just gonna welcome Karl Malone back like some league ambassador,” one Twitter user wrote.

“How does everybody but the NBA know Karl Malone is a horrible human being. Like disgusting. I will never understand,” added another.

“Karl Malone impregnated a literal child. He’s one of the worst human beings to ever be involved in the NBA. Get this man tf off our screens,” commented a third user.

“Utah forcing Karl Malone on us when we know he is a pedophile is nasty work,” one person wrote.
