A Los Angeles property owner is facing criticism for asking Cecelia Moran’s gym to pull down a mural celebrating NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, who passed away in a helicopter crash. Though the reason the landowner wants the mural removed has not yet been established, it is being speculated that he wants to rent out the place for advertising.
Following their tragic demise, artist Louie Palsino created a mural in Moran’s gym, which beautifully captures both Kobe and Gianna Bryant. The goal was to be a lasting tribute to Kobe Bryant following his importance and the attachment many have with him.
The mural depicts Kobe and Gianna Bryant with angelic wings, gazing affectionately at each other. But, not everyone shares in the idea of having such a work that commemorates the two, as reported by Marca.
The mural, located at Hardcore Fitness near the Lakers’ home arena, holds great significance as a tribute to Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, according to Moran. Since gym owner Moran was served the notice to remove the mural by September 30, she has been distressed by the turn of events.
She said she has a deep attachment to the artwork, which was created with love by @sloe_motions, and enjoyed her full support. She is hoping there would be an intervention to help preserve the artwork even though mindful of regulations.
Moran’s landlord has issued a warning that if she doesn’t address the mural removal issue promptly, he will take matters into his own hands — remove the mural, and send her the associated bill.
Moran now has limited options because she did not initially seek the landlord’s permission before commissioning the mural, but she asserted that she kept him informed, and he never raised objections until this point.
