It looks like the ladies of Xscape are on the outs again.
Following the backlash she received for her wardrobe choice on the Soul Train Awards carpet, LaTocha Scott is spilling all the tea and asks for a little “understanding.”
In case you missed it, the Xscape singer was noticeably different from the other ladies on the blue carpet. While Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Harris and Tamika Scott all wore coordinating sparkly champagne colored dresses, LaTocha wore a green silk gown.
Folks on social media where quick to point out LaTocha was not matching her bandmates, and questioned her wardrobe choice considering the ladies were being honored with the Lady of Soul Award.
LaTocha took to social media to relish in the moment as well as address the wardrobe mixup.
”Still on a high from last night,” she wrote. “So Grateful to receive the #LadyOfSoul Award. To still be embraced after 29 years is very humbling. Thank you to all of the Xscape Fans who’ve supported us throughout the years, and Thank you to BET for giving us our flowers. Make sure you tune in to the #SoulTrainAwards on November 26th to see us do our thing.”
She added, “Sorry, I didn’t get the memo, but everyone still looked amazing.”
Kandi also posted a photo of the group from the evening and shared her excitement for the honor. When a fan also commented defending LaTocha’s dress choice, she responded saying: @Latice777, thank you! Because they didn’t tell me anything. It’s more to this than people know.”
Moments later, Kandi responded to LaTocha’s comment, writing, “The only thing for people to know is that you chose to have a separate stylist from the rest of the group. You choose to separate yourself don’t blame us for that. Stop continuing to put out false narratives,” adding the rolling eyes emoji. She then turned the comments off on the post.
LaTocha also posted a lengthy message explaining that she got her own stylist after the ladies had a dispute with the current stylist. She also explained why she is not going on tour with Kandi, Tiny and Tamika (her sister).
