Law Roach May Have Retired From Styling, But Last Night He Made His Runway Model Debut

Earlier this week, Law Roach stylist, creative director and the man responsible for all of Zendaya’s iconic fashion looks announced his retirement from styling. In a lengthy Instagram post under a photo that said “RETIRED,” he stated “My Cup is empty….. thank you to everyone who’ve supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all. If this business was just about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life but unfortunately, it’s not! The politics, the lies, and false narratives finally got me! You win … I’m out.”

Contrary to what some folks might believe, the fashion industry is tough place to work, especially if you’re Black. It’s filled with nepotism, elitism and mean girls, And though the industry tried to improve its treatment of Black people during the past few years, most of these brands did so performatively or in a way that did not feel as true allyship. It’s enough to make even the strongest fashion warrior who has to deal with constant BS daily, such as Roach, realize it may not be worth it and bow out gracefully. Can we blame him? No, but that doesn’t mean we want him to leave.

Netizens had suggested that he’s retiring because of a situation at the Louis Vuitton fall-winter fashion show in which there was no available seat for him next to his client Zendaya in the front row.

In the below tweets, the image architect put all rumors to rest and emphatically stated that the Euphoria star played no part in the drama and will be family for life.

So y’all really think I’m breaking up with Z….. we are forever!
