*Bronny James may not have made ESPN’s 2024 NBA mock draft, but the way his legendary dad sees it, he will be worth the wait.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), LeBron James had something to say to those looking down the road to speculate about Bronny’s pro basketball career. The NBA all-star is confident that his son’s work ethic ” will ultimately do the talking” when it comes to his future. In the meantime, LeBron would like folks to just chill and “please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball.”
“The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do. If y’all don’t know he doesn’t care what a mock draft says, he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!” the Los Angeles Lakers fixture wrote on Feb. 26 in a now-deleted X post, People reports via USA Today.
“And to all the other kids out there striving to be great just keep your head down, blinders on and keep grinding,” LeBron continued. “These Mock Drafts doesn’t matter one bit! I promise you! Only the WORK MATTERS!! Let’s talk REAL BASKETBALL PEOPLE!”
The four-time NBA champion’s comments come after Bronny was removed from this year’s mock draft. As a result, USA Today, TMZ, and the New York note the 19-year-old USC freshman is projected to be picked in 2025.

In addition to LeBron, Bronny has a supporter in ESPN NBA Draft analyst Jonathan Givony, who voiced his love of “Bronny James’ game still.” to Malika Andrews on “NBA Today.”
“We have to remember that this kid missed four months with a heart issue, starting in July that really seemed to derail his season,” Givony stated about Bronny’s cardiac arrest in July 2023 during a workout at USC.
“He’s one of the best defenders in the freshman class. If Bronny James comes back for his sophomore season, we’re going to see a completely different guy. We’re going to see someone that really could be a lottery pick still.”
Noting Bronny’s health scare, People detailed developments afterwards, including the young player’s diagnosis of “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect.”
As a result of the condition and the surgery to fix it, Bronny missed the first eight games of the current college basketball season. Once he recovered, Bronny came back to the court with averaging 5.5 points on 37.1% shooting, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 19 games this season. According to USA Today the young athlete’s per game average totals 20.2 minutes per game.
“It was just an emotional, draining day, from the time we all woke up to the time that the buzzer hit zeros,” LeBron said. “I think the most important thing, who cares about the win or loss, the kid was standing tall and standing strong at the end of the game, and that is a blessing in its own right, and that is a win.”
