CORRECTION: On Jan. 5 the AFRO published an article on Irving H. Phillips Jr., who passed away on Dec. 22, 2022. The piece incorrectly listed Webster Phillips and I. Henry Phillips Sr. as the father and grandfather of Irving H. Phillips Jr., respectively.

The AFRO deeply regrets these errors. Irving Phillips Jr.’s father was I. Henry Phillips Sr. and his son is I. H. Webster Phillips III.

Full coverage of the life and legacy of Irving H. Phillips Jr. will be available on AFRO.com soon.
