The MAKO Girls set to perform at the 24th Los Angeles ULMII Entertainment Conference on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
*On Saturday November 11, 2023, the 24th annual Los Angeles “Uplifting Minds II” Entertainment Conference’s Professional Showcase lineup includes Hip-Hop R&B group MAKO Girls (“Lvls to This”) (pictured), veteran songwriter/singer John Ellison (“Some Kind of Wonderful”), and R&B’s Sheila (“Black Butterfly”).
The ULMII entertainment conference offers a panel discussion with a long list of entertainment industry professionals that include talent agents, publishers, artist managers, musicians, legal advisors and more, then the professional showcase where the MAKO Girls, John Ellison, and Sheila will perform, and it ends with the national talent competition where three acts will win over $19,000 in products, services, and cash – along with the ULMII Best Artist Award.
The MAKO Girls have been performing all over the world for over 10 years. They can dance, sing, and rap. They have performed as the opening act for Mindless Behavior (RCA Records). Signed to Sun and Sky Entertainment, the girls consist of Mimi, Kena, and A-Ni, who are currently promoting their EP “Lvls To This.”
John Ellison (pictured below) is a Canadian-American Soul singer/songwriter signed to PopMi Music. He recently re-released his hit single “(She’s) Some Kind of Wonderful,” the 3rd most played song in the world, which he wrote in 1967.
The hit single he will perform has been covered by over 70 artists. Sheila Wanamaker is an R&B singer/songwriter currently promoting her EP “Black Butterfly.” Her inspiration is her mentor, her youth choir director, Rev. John P Kee.

The ULMII Entertainment Conference is a virtual conference powered by Zoom. Admission is free and access to the conference is at www.UpliftingMinds2.com. The Los Angeles ULMII is the second of two ULMII conferences held each year, the other is from Baltimore. The ULMII conference has been credited with launching the careers of Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Miguel; actress Naturi Naughton (STARZ’ “Power”); Disney’s Roshon Fegan (“Shake it Up” and “Camp Rock”), and songwriters/producers The Featherstone Brothers (Dru Hill’s “I Should Be Your Boyfriend”). Miguel was signed to a major record contract by a ULMII panelist, a senior vice president of Jive Records, and that led to his deal with Universal Records. Naturi was scouted at ULMII by Broadway, that Broadway run led to her joining R&B group 3LW and then her role on “Power”. Roshon’s manager said what he learned at ULMII (get a talent agent) helped him take Roshon to the next level, which included starring on two Disney sitcoms and starring on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” The Featherstone Brothers performed their original song at ULMII, and it was heard by SisQo (Dru Hill) who was at ULMII promoting his solo release. SisQo placed the song on Dru Hill’s 3rd album as “I Should Be Your Boyfriend”, the song was the first single/music video, and it went platinum.
