*An exciting “Meet and Greet” was hosted recently by Mary Hollens of the Hollens Group in Detroit for Jeanne Starr Gater, the Executive Producer of the upcoming movie Bring Back Summertime.

Held at BasBlue, a venue in Detroit’s Cultural Center created to empower professional women, Gater spoke to friends, well-wishers, film crew, and investors about her faith-based movie Bring Back Summertime, scheduled to be filmed in Metro Detroit soon.

The epic feature film will depict the Gater family’s relentless journey of love and faith in God to decree the stay of Dr. Julius H. Gater, Jr., who was left comatose and paralyzed after a horrific car/truck accident in 1983.  Julius Gater, affectionately known as Dr. J, was an educator, U.S. Airman, and a senior systems engineer for Chrysler Corporation in the prime of his life at the time of his near-fatal accident.  The film is a powerful reminder of how fragile life is and how things can change in the blink of an eye.

“Bring Back Summertime is relatable to people from all walks of life because it was the swift action of a diverse response team, dedicated doctors, and prayers from family and friends from the outset that changed the life-threatening consequences of Dr. J’s fight for survival,” said Jeanne Starr Gater. “The Gater family’s belief in divine intervention will bring deep reflection as audiences witness the relentless struggle for survival in this true story of triumph over tragedy.”

Jeanne Starr Gater, President of JamStarr Entertainment, spoke glowingly about the progress of the future movie, which has found favor with the Michigan Film & Digital Media Office since the movie will have an empowering storyline in the state and favorably portrays historic Michigan cities, including Detroit.  The Bring Back Summertime Screenplay has been deemed ‘powerful’ and was awarded the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages 12 and over.

Bring Back Summertime will be produced by Detroiter Delano Glass, CEO of Real Entertainment Films, who has produced such films as Why Do Men Cheat? and My Sister’s Keeper.  His television credits include the upcoming fall 2023 series, 6 Mile Road.  Director of Photography Bryan Papierski has won numerous Clio awards and is known for the film As In The Days of Noah.

Emmy-Award Winning Assistant Director Quentin Howell has worked extensively with the Travel Channel, ABC Television, and the Discovery Channel.  Bring Back Summertime will also use the talents of Detroit’s Otis Keith Jackson as Artistic Director and the Motor City’s iconic fashion designer Beulah Cooley, as Wardrobe Director.

In addition to Bring Back Summertime being filmed in Detroit, the production crew has already shot scenes in Greensboro, Georgia.  Future filming of the movie’s back story is set for Paradise Island in the Bahamas. The film’s 36-piece Orchestration, composed by BMI Award-Winning Composer Dana Gress, has been described as “timeless!”  The composition was recorded and filmed in 2017 by the Detroit Federation of Musicians at the Detroit Opera House.

“The songs on the unique Bring Back Summertime soundtrack feature the finest musicians in classical, orchestral, jazz, pop, and R&B genres,” said Music Director Craig Erquhart.  “The beautiful sounds of this music, sound effects, and music scoring will touch the heart strings and the soul strings as moviegoers witness the Gater family’s captivating story of triumph over tragedy.”

The true-to-life movie is adapted from the riveting book Bring Back Summertime, penned by Jeanne Starr Gater in 1986 and republished by Book Baby in May 2023.  The book has been called a “literary masterpiece,” with the Bring Back Summertime title resonating as a metaphor for finding a season of peace, harmony, and tranquility in the midst of storms, demonstrating that the light of truth shines the brightest in the darkest of times.

“We have people worldwide who are waiting for the premiere of Bring Back Summertime and keep asking ”When is the movie coming out?  We want it in the UK — we need it in Africa,” said  Bishop Chellee Roberts, the film’s faith-based media liaison who worked with AMC Theater on the premiere film release of Passion of the Christ and War Room. “We are excited about Bring Back Summertime impacting the heart of a people and reviving the love of God for a nation!”

Gator added.  “This will be a faith-based movie with a message of hope and love that will be the ‘go-to film’ for audiences for inspiration and encouragement for years to come.”
