On April 18th, 2023, Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion gave an exclusive interview with ELLE, opening up about her traumatic experience for the first time since her victory against Tory Lanez. The exclusive interview comes on the heels of her first performance at the March Madness festival in Houston, also since her trial against Lanez.
The shooting incident occurred in July 2020 and has led to backlash and criticism from those questioning her story and accusing her of lying. The “Sweetest Pie” rapper continues to grow tough skin even as she battles with her label, 1501 Certified Entertainment.
During the interview, Meg dishes on how she wasn’t aware people would not believe her, saying, “I could have let the adversity break me, but I persevered, even as people treated my trauma like a running joke. First, there were conspiracy theories that I was never shot.”
In addition, she emphasized the importance of supporting and believing survivors of assault, including a reminder to break the cycle of silence and shame. As Meg says in the interview,
“We can’t control what others think, especially when the lies are juicier than the truth. But as a society, we must create safer environments for women to come forward about violent behavior without fear of retaliation. We must provide stronger resources for women to recover from these tragedies physically and emotionally, without fear of judgment.”
Meg also expressed her gratitude to her fans, who supported her throughout her journey:
“To all the Hotties, please know I am so incredibly grateful for you. You don’t even know all the little things that you’ve done to make me feel uplifted and inspired over the years. Some of my Hotties even showed up to court, and it touched my soul. I also want to express my sincere gratitude to all the women who rallied around me, used their voices, and penned an open letter of support on my behalf.”

The Houston Hotties was recently spotted out and about celebrating her 28th birthday. Megan has been out of the spotlight since her victory over Tory Lanez in the 2022 shooting trial.
For the first time since getting justice over Tory Lanez following the 2022 assault trial, the Houston hottie was seen in a video at a party for her 28th birthday on Feb. 15.
The “WAP” artist had a pleasantly surprised look on her face as she was seen saying “wow” in the visual. Megan also stunned in a body-hugging Sea Breeze Maxi Dress priced at $730.
So far, there aren’t any details on which of the “Hot Girl Summer” friends or entertainment industry colleagues showed up in support, including boyfriend Pardison Fontaine, who she allegedly broke up with after unfollowing him on Instagram.
The “Backin’ It Up” artist posted a picture of him and a woman, who people alleged to be Megan toasting drinks on Feb. 14 to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Megan Thee Stallion has kept a low profile in the public eye since the shooting trial ended with Tory Lanez. Lanez was found guilty, on Dec. 23, 2022, of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the July 2020 incident after a gathering in the Hollywood Hills.
