Missy Elliott and Chaka Khan are headlining the 2023 class of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Other inductees in the Performer category include The Spinners, Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, Willie Nelson, and Rage Against the Machine.

In the Music Influence Award category, the “Godfather of Hip Hop” DJ Kool Herc and Link Wray will be honored.

Al Kooper and Bernie Taupin will be inducted into the Musical Excellence category.

Don Cornelius, the founder of Soul Train, will be honored posthumously with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, shared his excitement about the 2023 inductees.

“This year’s incredible group of Inductees reflects the diverse artists and sounds that define rock & roll,” Sykes said. “We are honored that this November’s Induction Ceremony in New York will coincide with two milestones in music culture; the 90th birthday of Willie Nelson and the 50th Anniversary of the birth of hip hop.”

In her illustrious career, Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott has won four Grammy Awards and sold 40 million records worldwide. She was the first female rapper inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received the prestigious MTV VMAs Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for her influential and innovative music videos. In 2021, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and, this year, will be the first female hip hop artist inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Regarded as one of the greatest voices, Chaka Kahn burst on the music landscape as the lead singer of the acclaimed funk group Rufus in 1972. The group went on to have massive success throughout the ’70s and ’80s with classic hits such as “Tell Me Something Good,” “You Got the Love,” “Sweet Thing,” “Do You Love What You Feel,” and “Ain’t Nobody.” As a solo artist, the 10-time Grammy-Award winner rose to superstardom with major solo hits such as “I’m Every Woman,” “What Cha’ Gonna Do for Me,” “I Know You, I Love You,” “I Feel For You,” “Through the Fire,” and many more.

The 38th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
