*The mother of 23-year-old Starquan Washington slammed his stepfather during the recent homegoing service for her son.
Washington was fatally shot in October outside Barfield’s Bar and Grille in the Myrtle Beach area. The alleged gunman, Kvon Lawhorn, was the victim’s best friend, and he was arrested and charged in connection to the shooting.
“Starquan was a forgiver, his heart was so pure. Always kept a smile on his face. Always,” Washington’s mother, Jamella Shontelle Washington, and his aunt, Cassandra Strothers said, WMBF-TV reports.
In a clip Jamella shared on TikTik on Oct. 28, she called out her son’s stepfather and his family after they left Washington’s funeral,MadameNoire reports.

“They were not needed,” she said. “We did not need them. I didn’t have them when I was 16 years old and didn’t have them when Starquan was 23 years old. They didn’t show up with a gift or anything else.”
She also noted her son’s unsupportive stepfather wouldn’t get anything in the aftermath of Washinton’s passing. Watch the grieving mother’s rant via the TikTok clip below.
Washington’s homegoing was Oct. 27 at the New Direction Worship Center in Loris, South Carolina.
“I can’t imagine another Christmas without him,” said aunt Kelly Davis, The Sun News reports.
“Starquan was a good kid. He would give people the shirt off his back. He did his dirt sometimes, but at the end of the day, there wasn’t a Christmas he didn’t come by, there wasn’t a Thanksgiving he wasn’t here,” she added.
