*Following up on his Official Indie R&B Chart #1 track, “It’s So Nice,” Cornell CC Carter is back with new music. And this time he brought his longtime friend, Grammy-winning producer Narada Michael Walden, to bring “I’d Rather Dance with You.”
The song, which the pair wrote together, centers on what Soul Tracks described as “a familiar theme: a man setting his sights on taking a beautiful woman to the dance floor, hoping to stay in her world:”
“I’d Rather Dance With You” marks the latest collaboration between Carter and Walden, who has worked with Soul icons Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and The Temptations.
The duo, Carter said, are “excited to share our talents and love for real music together on this track.”
Music lovers have options when listening to “I’d Rather With You,” as the song is available in a Soul version, House version, and Club version, respectively.

Moving into classic material, Sargent Tucker is giving fans a blast from the past with his new single, a cover of Marvin Gaye’s hit song “Ain’t That Particular.” According to Soul Tracks, the NOLA-born, San Francisco-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist caught inspiration for the guitar-and-drum-driven remake from encouragement from Gaye’s ex-wife Anna.
Originally released in 1965, “Ain’t That Peculiar,” is regarded as one of Gaye’s signature hits, reaching number 8 on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart in the fall of that year. The Smokey Robinson-written Motown classic has been covered by various artists over the years, including the all-female rock band Fanny, R&B singer Stevie Woods, English singer Mari Wilson, and hard rock band Diamond Reo.
