Country singer Tony Evans Jr. debuts with ‘Starless.’

*“I really wanted to write songs that were emotional and intimate,” said Country singer Tony Evans, Jr. about his debut EP “Starless” and its current single “Need Somebody.” “I want to show fans the direction I’m going in (Country)…the vibe…it’s unique.”

That, it is. A black guy from Atlanta singing pure Country with that baritone vocal delivery. To me there is no hint of R&B or Hip-Hop influence, and I am sure he grew up in that culture. His EP debut is lyrically driven.

“The EP has four tracks,” Tony, Jr. said when I asked.

“He was 10 years old when he expressed his interest,” said Evans, Sr. about his son’s music career. “I had no idea he could sing.”

Not only can he sing but Evans, Jr. is a self-taught guitarist. Tony’s father is also his manager and in promoting the March 10, 2023 “Starless” EP release “managed” to secure his national television debut on ABC’s “Tamron Hall Show.”

Country singer/songwriter Tony Evans, Jr.Country singer Tony Evans Jr. debuts with ‘Starless’ EP.

Tony Evans, Jr. is currently based in Nashville – the hub for Country music. The “Starless” EP has music producer Ron Fair (Christina Aguilera) and songwriter Fred Wilhelm (Faith Hill) on the project.

“When I was a kid, my dad had me singing at family gatherings of 20 – 30 people. I had my guitar and sung songs I had written,” he started to say when I asked why Country music. “My grandmother and aunties said, ‘You a Country singer.’ I said I ain’t no Country singer, I’m from Atlanta! My aunties said, ‘In 10 years we’ll see.’ And they were right.”

Once you hear him you’ll come to the same conclusion his aunties did and know that he is going to be one of the biggest Country singers in the world. In fact, that is what he told me he wants to be!

“I want to be…well let’s say I see myself, humbly, as the greatest Country singer in the world.” www.TonyEvensJr.com
