Perimeter tells us we all make choices. The new BET+ series revolves around the Freaknik Festival of the 1990s that turned Atlanta into a different world.

Ava Mone’t plays Paige Dawn, a Spelman College sophomore on the right path to success until she meets a bad boy, Malcolm, and her whole world starts to change. As the daughter of a councilman and hairstylist, she must learn from her mistakes as she follows along with her boyfriend’s profession. Tatyana Ali stars as her mother Connie Dawn, who tries to keep her family afloat and support her husband’s political career.

Actors Mone’t and Ali and showrunner Armani Ortiz spoke with EBONY about working with Tyler Perry on the new series and sharing Black stories at historical events and the show’s impact on their lives.

Perimeter, all four episodes, are on BET Plus+  Thursday, February 29.
