A songwriter and producer, Orlando recently released his new song, “Be Ready,” which he wrote and features Tony Grant, lead vocalist of The Temptations, and mixed, recorded and mastered by Craig T. Cooper and Chad Wright.
Orlando was inspired to write this song after his diagnosis of cancer and then being cancer free after recovery. After beating the “big C,” he viewed the concert as a chance to give back to other musicians, family and friends, who might be going through any challenges. He was inspired to pen the song, “Be Ready,” an up-tempo, vibrant, and uplifting gospel-flavored song telling the message to be ready when the Lord calls your name.
Grant, lead vocalist from the Temptation and an actor in Tyler Perry, movies, plays and, television Show, ”Love Thy Neighbor,” has been friends with Orlando since the 1990s where they appeared in the hit gospel play, “A Good Man Is Hard To Find.”
Considering his body of work, it’s no wonder that Orlando was christened the “Percussionist to the Stars.” His collaborations range from the GAP Band to Yarbrough & Peoples, to Tupac, Buddy Miles, Billy Preston, Motown’s Ozone, Teena Marie, Shanice, Low Rider (formerly named WAR), Bobby Womack, L.L. Cool J., Chaka Khan, and many more.
His work can be heard on several Gap Band albums including the smash hit, “Outstanding” 12” single. Orlando’s Latin single, “ARGENTIA,” is in the movie, “For The Love Of Money,” starring James Caan, and Paul Sorvino. The vocalist on the tune was Alex Ligertwood from Santana.
