Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton has said that his little brother was subjected to racial abuse, after being called the n-word, while watching Indiana’s game against Milwaukee.
Haliburton made this revelation during a post-game meeting with reporters after Indiana’s playoff win over the Bucks. He stated that the incident occurred during Game 1 of the series in Wisconsin on Sunday.
Haliburton refrained from elaborating on the specifics of the incident or the responses from his family and the Bucks. However, he commended his brother for handling the situation appropriately.
Having grown up near Milwaukee in Oshkosh and with several close relatives present at the game, Haliburton expressed his belief that everyone connected to him has managed the situation well, as reported by TMZ.
The Bucks said that the alleged incident was reported to security at the Fiserv Forum. “An arena guest services representative reported that during Sunday’s game, a few guests were not sitting in their correct seats,” the Bucks said in a statement.
“The guest services representative asked the group to move one section over to their correct seats. Then, one of the individuals in the group claimed to the representative that a person sitting in front of him had used a derogatory term toward him. The accused person denied the accusation. The group moved to their correct seats and no further incident was reported.”
