*If you are currently in the struggle financially, a new YouTube compilation of folks sharing their personal stories and/or disgust only proves that you are certainly not alone.
In the clips presented by YouTuber Shar on Demand, Millennials and Gen Zers on TikTok are baffled by their struggle to pay rent, pay their mortgage, and especially groceries, due to the one-two punch of low wages and inflation.
One woman, @sugamama2887, who works a daily nine hour shift in the health care industry for $21.60/hour, sat in her car before she was scheduled to clock in at 7 a.m., and just vented to the camera about her paycheck leaving no extra money for things like buying new scrubs, or going out to a nice dinner with her husband, who also works.
“I shouldn’t have to feel guilty because I want to do something for myself,” said @sugamama2887. “Yall, I am so f**king stressed out. I need to clock in at 7 o’clock, which is literally in two minutes. And I’m at work, I just don’t wanna go in this b**ch. I sick of coming here, all for me to get a paycheck that barely even … like it barely even helps!”
One mother of a 28 and 25-year-old said, “When I was their age, I was making less than $10 an hour, and I could afford to live on my own. Now, you have to be making a six figure salary to get a decent tiny little place to live. So what the f**k is going on and how do we help them as parents?

Another mother of three, whose combined salary with her husband is in the six-figure range, said, “We are barely cutting it, and we’re not extravagant people.”
The comment section was also rife with accounts of discouragement and despair.
“I’m a single mom and hearing two-income households living the same struggle is really just so crazy,” wrote one commenter. “I’m about to be homeless, I’ve really tried hard but I was laid off and for a person who lives paycheck to paycheck is a scary situation. I’m so depressed.”
Another wrote: “I was doing OK before the lockdowns… but post-covid things started going downhill fast. I had to move back in with my mom at 34. It is humiliating. Definitely am tired AF too. There’s no end in sight either. Things are getting worse by the day.”
